Come and join us as we explore composition in photography.

Composition is one of the most critical element in photography. Composition is how a photographer arranges the visual elements within their image, frame. I promise you that if you search for information on composition you will find plenty You will find formal rules, opinion, some of which you can trace back to historical art movements and painters.

Even in the digital world, composition remains the key to creating strong images. Composition is what guides our eye through an image and gives importance to the subject. It creates the story for the viewer and how we as photographers convey that message.

This photo was taken November 5, 2023 at 3:45 PM. While walking around my property looking for a subject to photograph, I thought of a technique I recently heard of to move the camera while using a slow shutter speed. With the Nikon D3500 in Manual mode, f/22, 1/1.6 sec., ISO 100, 18mm, I clicked off the first photo. Thinking it to be too dark, I readjusted my settings and took 6 more exposures. Turns out the dark photo was the keeper.

Horseshoe Bend near Page Arizona. A great place to take a sunset photo since the sun sets directly behind it as shown and as it does it lights up the foreground rocks nice and orange. You will need to bracket your exposures and blend in HD to get the best photo if you want a star burst or wait till after the sun sets and you will get an amazing gold color on the horizon. Just don't get too close to the edge of course. Easy access off of route 89 south just south of Page AZ. About a half mile ea
